Feng Shui dining is a table people can reach, talk across, and leave without climbing. Seats should not sit in the door's center line. A television as the room's face turns dinner into a waiting room. A mirror is optional. None of this guarantees family harmony or a fatter grocery budget.
When we photograph "dining rooms," the table is a mail desk and the only art is a black screen. People ask for an even number of chairs. Nobody can sit facing each other. This guide is the meal-test we run before anyone buys a round slab.
Stove and sink: kitchen layout. Glass rules: mirrors. Sofa side: living room.
Table shape, honestly
Round and oval keep knees and talk in one loop. Rectangle is the rental default. Rounded corners help in a tight aisle. Square of four is stable in a box room.
Lucky seat counts (6, 8) are lists. Seat the people who eat. A crowded 8 in 12 square meters is how chairs scrape the wall.
Wood is a common material story (family, growth). Glass tops show the mess on the shelf below. Either works if you can clean it.
Seats and the door
Someone should see the kitchen or room door without sitting in its lane. A chair with its back tight to the swing is the bad seat. Rotate or pull the table off the jamb.
A bench on one side is fine if people can get out. Banquettes that trap the innermost person are a manners problem before they are a chi problem.
Mirror that "doubles food"
BTB-style wealth talk likes a mirror that shows the whole table. Do it only if the reflection is food and faces, not the sink pile or a hallway of shoes. Height: do not crop heads.
A huge mirror opposite a window can glare at noon. Side wall is often kinder.
Skip the mirror if the room is already a glass box.
TV, laptop, and the centerpiece
No television as the dining face if you can help it. Off, or in another room. TV placement if the living room is the same space.
Laptop: remote workers. A mat under the computer marks the work zone so dinner can reclaim the table.
Centerpiece: low enough to see across. Fresh fruit you will eat beats a dusty cornucopia. Flowers that die in three days need a bin, not a "wealth" story.
Light and color
Warm overhead you can dim. A blue-white flood makes food look like a cafeteria. Terracotta, cream, or a green textile is enough color. You do not need a paint job for a rental.
Door from the street
If the front door dumps onto the table, slow the path with a rug or a plant that misses the swing. Rebuilds are out of scope. Entryway.
Kitchen fire and dining earth can share a studio. Keep the table off the stove door swing. Grease on a "wealth mirror" is a cleaning job. The kitchen article owns the triangle; this page owns the seats.
A leftover bagua on the dining rug is optional. If the table works, stop drawing grids in ketchup.
A sequence before the next meal
- Photograph from the doorway and from a seat.
- Clear the table of mail and the laptop.
- Pull the table until nobody sits in the swing.
- Turn the TV off or face it away.
- Set the number of chairs you will actually use tonight.
Guests: leave a path behind at least two chairs so someone can serve. A table flush to three walls is a booth you cannot clean. Pull it out 40 cm if the room allows.
Leftover homework on the place mats is the student-desk problem in the kitchen hub. Box it before people sit. The students page owns the chair; this page owns the plates. If you only eat on the sofa, the living-room guide is the honest next click, not a fake dining room.
What to skip
Do not promise abundance from a mirror. Do not paste an App Store URL in the body. Do not hang a chime over the food. Do not force eight chairs.
If the table is also the only desk, name the hours. The useful page is then remote work, not a second dining URL.
How to judge a change
You can talk without shouting over a show. You can sit down with a plate in one trip. The mirror, if any, shows the table.
Scan the two photos in FengShui Hero. Flags should match path and screens.
Sources and limits
Notes mix Form School path logic with popular dining-mirror wealth talk. Meals and relationships have other causes. Empirical research on Feng Shui as a whole is limited and mixed.
