A Feng Shui aquarium is a tank of living water some schools put in a wealth or career gua as a water-element object. It is livestock plus a leak risk. It is not a raise.
When we photograph rooms, the tank is cloudy, the filter is off, or the cube sits on a dresser facing the pillow. People ask for eight goldfish and one black. The water is still brown. This guide is the sit-and-maintain test we run before anyone counts lucky numbers.

What job does the tank do?
Traditional pairing: water for flow and trade imagery. Moving, clean water is the point. Dead water in a jar is the opposite picture.
Form School still cares where the mass sits (path, door, bed). Compass and bagua add southeast or north. Those maps can disagree. Pick one. Do not run two tanks to satisfy both.

Where the tank can sit
Usually workable. Living room on a solid cabinet, not in the walkway. A home office if the chair still sees the door and the tank is not behind your head as the only "mountain." Southeast or north if that is the map you chose and the corner is dry and bright enough for the species.
Usually a no. Bedroom (noise, light, humidity). Kitchen next to the stove (fire and water on one wall, and grease on glass). Bathroom (you already have water and a drain). Aimed straight at the front door like a second mouth. Direct sun that cooks the water.
A tank facing the main door is a common "wealth rushes out" line. The practical version: glare, drafts, and guests walking into glass.
South as a fire gua is the "water weakens fire" caution in five-element talk. If your only spare wall is south, skip the tank and use a plant.
Fish counts without the paycheck story
Eight gold or orange plus one dark fish is the blog formula. Gold for metal/money talk, dark for "absorbs sha." Treat it as a composition people like, not a maximum-wealth setting.
Seven, six, or one large fish (arowana, koi) appear on the same lists. Koi need space most apartments do not have. Do not buy a prestige fish for a coffee-table cube.
Stocking density is an animal-welfare job. If the formula and the tank size fight, the tank size wins.
Care is the Feng Shui
A dirty tank is stagnant water with a motor. Weekly partial changes, a filter that actually runs, food that matches the species, no overcrowding. Lights on a timer so the living room is not a nightclub at 2 a.m.
When a fish dies: net it out, test the water, wait. Same-day "replace for luck" is how you stack stress on a crashed cycle. Replace when you will keep the new fish alive.
Noise, kids, and pets
A filter is a second appliance. If you hear it from the pillow through a thin door, the tank is too close to sleep even if it is not in the bedroom. Move it or get a quieter canister. That is courtesy, not a gua.
Lids for cats. Stands that a toddler cannot pull. Saltwater is a chemistry hobby; most rentals should stay freshwater if they stay at all.
Renters and small rooms
A 20 to 40 liter tank on a stand you can take is enough of a symbol. Put a tray under it. Know where the nearest shutoff is. A fountain with no fish is less livestock and still water. Do not put either on a wobbly IKEA top.
A sequence before you buy
- Name the room. If it is the bedroom, stop.
- Draw one bagua or take one compass reading.
- Check floor load, sun, and the path to the door.
- Buy a tank you will clean, then the fish.
- Photograph the corner from the door. That is the scan shot.
What to skip
Do not promise income from nine fish. Do not paste an App Store URL in the body. Do not hide a dead fish "so the luck stays." Do not put a tank under a beam as a second problem if the real issue is the bedroom.
If you cannot keep water clean, the useful object is a lamp and a plant in the wealth corner.
How to judge a change
The glass is clear in two weeks. Nobody trips on the stand. You still sleep in a room without a pump.
