The Feng Shui wealth corner is a mapped sector some schools associate with growth and resources. It is not a vault. Two popular maps disagree on where it sits, and neither map pays a bill.

Two maps, one apartment

Compass / classical-leaning practice. Stand roughly in the center of the plan. Southeast is the wealth sector in many Compass School summaries. You need a compass, not a guess from the street.

BTB / Western bagua. Stand at the door looking in. The far-left corner of that view is often labeled wealth (Xun). The overlay is a square or rectangle on the floor plate. It does not care which way southeast is.

If a blog says "always southeast" and another says "always far left," they are not looking at the same diagram. Choose one for the whole home. Mixing both on the same week is how people move a plant three times and call Feng Shui a scam.

What "activate" actually means

In practitioner language, activate means: the sector is not a dump, not dark, and not broken. A live plant, a working lamp, and a floor you can walk are the boring version. Coins, ingots, and "merchant stones" are cultural symbols. They do not replace a budget.

Room-level versus whole-home

A one-bedroom can run the bagua on the whole flat or on the room you actually use for work. If whole-home southeast is the shower, use the room map on the living room and keep the shower ordinary. Do not put a plant on the cistern to "save" the gua.

Mark the corner with tape for a day so you do not slide it toward the prettier wall. The prettier wall is a design preference. The map is a rule you chose. If you cannot decide, pick the door-based map; you do not need a compass for that.

What not to put there

Clutter is the only item almost every school agrees on. Dying plants, fake wealth displays that collect dust, and trash bins as the main object in the corner are the usual list. Excess ceramic "earth" in a wood-labeled sector is a five-element nuance, not a reason to throw away a useful pot.
