Feng Shui bagua kitchen location is where the stove lands on one 3x3 overlay of the walls you heat. Black Hat puts fire talk far middle from the latch. Compass puts it south. Tape both maps. Pick one school. Do not move a gas line for a gua. A burner does not pay a bill.
When we photograph "mapped" kitchens, someone has already circled south in purple. The cook still faces tile. A grocery bag still wedges in the fridge leaf. People ask which crystal slides the range into fame. We ask them to draw two 3x3s and mark the burners, not the room name. Then we stand at the stove. If they cannot see the kitchen opening, the overlay is a later argument. The bagua map page is how a 3x3 is drawn. Black Hat versus compass is the fight that decides whether this stove is even in a fire cell. Kitchen layout is the work triangle and what we will not claim about wealth. Stove facing door is the cook's glance. This URL is where that fire box sits on the house grid.
How do you tell which bagua cell the stove sits in?
You put the burners on paper. You do not guess from the street, and you do not trust a memory that south is always the kitchen.
Sketch the smallest rectangle of walls you heat. Ignore a shared corridor you do not own. Mark the kitchen, then mark the range as its own box. A galley that runs one long wall still has a stove in one third of that run. The fridge is a different cabinet. The fridge placement article owns the cold box. Tonight the object is the flame.
Run two overlays on two copies. Do not draw both on one sheet and average the lines.
Black Hat, also called BTB or Western bagua, lines the bottom row of the 3x3 with the wall that holds the front door you unlock. You stand in that door facing in. Far middle as you look in, the back center of the house, is fame and fire talk. Far left is wealth talk. The door wall itself is knowledge, career, or helpful-people talk, depending on the third. Compass bagua ignores that door wall and uses true headings. South is fire talk on that map even if south is the hall bath. Wikipedia's feng shui page still splits Form School shape work from Compass overlays. Form goes first here: a grocery-bag walk and a cook who can name the kitchen opening. A south sticker on a blocked aisle is homework.
A stove in a mapped fire cell means the range sits on that labeled square on the school you chose. It does not mean the cooktop is a shrine. If Black Hat puts the burners far middle and compass puts them north, you have two stories. Write the school you will keep. Pull the extra plant off the hood.
| School | Where fire talk sits | Stove in that cell when | What you write |
|---|---|---|---|
| Black Hat / BTB | Far middle as you look in from the latch | The range occupies that third of the house rectangle | "Door map, stove in far-middle" |
| Compass overlay | South third of the same rectangle | The range occupies south on a real heading | "Compass, stove in S" |
| Both | Two different tiles | Only if the kitchen is large enough to hit both stories | "Both maps, still one range" |
| Neither | Somewhere else | Front-wall galley, northwest corner, or a center walk | "Not the fire cell. Walk still." |
Studios often put the only kitchen on the door wall. On Black Hat that wall is not fame. Compass might still call a slice of it south. That disagreement is why this page exists. Do not remodel because one printout was prettier.
How we check a real room
We stand at the door we unlock, not the patio and not the fire stair. We look across the plan until we hit the far wall. We mark the range in pencil, including a cooktop on an island if that is the flame. We tape one 3x3, or we draw it on a printed lease plan. Then we take a second copy and set south. We circle the burners on both. We do not hang nine objects because dinner happens in a labeled square.
If the maps are already mixed, we still tape. Then we take the crystal off the grates so a pan can sit.

That tape is a sketch. It comes up. A phone compass in a steel door frame can lie. If the heading jumps when you step into the hall, believe the outdoor reading, or skip compass for this month and stay on Black Hat.
Partial overlap is common. The burners sit in the far-middle third and the fridge sits in the center. Write "partial." Treat the stove as the fire object. Do not buy a red kettle for one half of the run and a wood board for the other because a chart split the porcelain.
Where should a kitchen sit on a feng shui bagua?
Popular English pages like south and southwest on a compass overlay. Door-map pages like the far-middle fame cell, and sometimes the far-left wealth cell, because they treat the kitchen as a money room. Those are classroom preferences. They are not a building brief. You find where the stove you already have sits. You do not owe the lease a new stack so the flame can belong in south.
Form School still wins the evening. Can the cook see who enters the kitchen, or is there a small side mirror that shows that opening? That job lives on the stove facing door page. Can you walk a grocery bag from the house latch to the fridge without a hip check? An open kitchen that dumps dirty dishes into the sofa is a sightline, not a gua miss. Fix the view you already have.
Element talk is optional overlay after that. Compass south is fire on many notes. Wood is said to feed fire, so southeast gets sold as a supportive kitchen. Water is said to control fire, so north gets sold as a clash. The fire element page is lamps, flame you watch, and when to dim. It is not permission to rotate a landlord range.
If your stove is north on the school you chose, you still cook. Keep a path. Wipe grease. A heading is not a personality report. If your stove is south, you still need the glance and the walk. A "perfect" fire cell with a blocked aisle is a blocked aisle.
Eight Mansions notes that put the kitchen in an unlucky sector and point the knobs at a lucky heading need a kua figure. That overlay lives on the personal kua number page. Do not spin a gas line because a widget printed a minus.
Is a kitchen in the center or at the front of the house bad feng shui?
A kitchen in the center of the house is a stove in the only cross-path, or in the middle cell some notes call tai chi. Popular posts say fire cannot sit in the heart of the plan. What we see is smell in every room and a hip line through the cook. Keep that walk clear. Shut a kitchen door if you have one. Do not pour a wall tonight to restore a center.
A kitchen at the front of the house is a range on the door wall. On Black Hat that wall is knowledge, career, or helpful-people talk, not fame. Compass might still put a slice of it south. The honest miss is a sightline from the street latch to the flame. Guests get a smell tour, and you startle with a pan. Close the kitchen door if it exists. A screen that still leaves a walk is optional. Folklore about money flying out the burner is labeled folklore here. Kitchen layout already drew that claim limit.
Northwest is the scare cell in a lot of listicles. Compass notes call it metal and helpful-people talk, then tell a story about fire sitting on the breadwinner. We will not attach family harm to a heading. We will not invent a study. If your range is northwest on the school you use, write "compass, stove in NW." Keep Form. Skip ribbon on the pipe.

That opening is the first picture from the hall. If this is also the house latch, the flame is in the mouth of the home. A closed leaf gives the hall a wall again. If you have no door, the counters the hall sees have to stay a kitchen, not a dump.
An open floor plan bagua is one grid on a kitchen-living volume, not a second luck map on the island. If the stove sits in the center cell of that volume because the plumber put water there, that is plumbing. Do not pile earth bowls in the walk to hold tai chi.
A wet room on a money cell is a different map fact. Lid and door live on the bagua bathroom in wealth corner page. Do not copy those steps onto a sink. Tonight the question is fire talk versus the burners.
What can a renter do tonight without moving the range?
Do the map first so you know whether you are even in the story the blogs sold. Then finish the kitchen so the rest of the house can walk. Nothing here needs a plumber unless gas already smells wrong. If it does, call the person who owns the pipe.
- Tape or sketch the house rectangle. Mark the range. Draw Black Hat from the latch. Draw compass south on a second sheet. Circle the burners on both. Write one school, or write "neither."
- Stand at the burners. Name whether you can see the kitchen opening without a full twist. If you cannot, use the side-mirror steps on the stove-facing-door page. Do not rip out gas.
- Walk a grocery bag from the house latch to the fridge. If a stool or a drying rack stops you, tuck it.
- If the street latch stares into the flame, shut the kitchen door. If there is no door, keep the counters that view includes.
- Clear the cooktop so a pan can sit. Move a coin dish, a plant, and mail off the grates.
- Photograph from the kitchen doorway in FengShui Hero and compare the flagged mess with the walk you just did.

The board is a landing, not a luck species. The doorway in a glance is the Form check. The map on the table does not override this stance.
Owners still skip a remodel sold as a gua repair. Moving a range is a building project. Do not paint the kitchen red unless the landlord already approved paint. Do not hang a bagua octagon over the cooktop. A plant on the grates is clutter.
If the stove is not in a fire cell on the school you chose, you still keep the walk and the glance. Dinner does not wait for a gua.
What this is not
It is not a diagnosis of your income, and it is not permission to tear out a range. A guest who leaves the kitchen door open for a night does not empty a household. A flying-star year does not rotate the gas.
Skip religious objects on the cooktop. Skip a guarantee that a kettle color will hold fire. Stainless is here because that is what the rental has.
The work triangle, unused burners as a repair, and sink versus flame already live on kitchen layout. A cook who cannot see the opening is stove facing door. Sofa versus dishes is open kitchen. Lid and door on a wet money cell are the bathroom map page. Stay here if your question was where the burners land on the grid you already started.
Form School still wants a walk and a back. Compass talk about south will not make a blocked fridge leaf disappear.
Tonight: circle the stove on two maps
If the photo from the kitchen doorway still looks like a dump in a labeled square, you are not done. The gua is not the problem. The bag is.
If you only do one thing tonight, circle the stove on two maps, then cook dinner on the range you have. The rest of the internet can keep selling south.
