A feng shui personal kua number is an Eight Mansions sitting overlay taken from a birth year and the male or female formula that school asks for. Schools use it to prefer a heading for a bed head or a chair back after the furniture already works. It is not destiny or pay.
When we photograph rooms, the phone is often already open on a kua widget. The bed still points its feet at the hall. Someone has rotated a chair "to sit east" and now cannot see who comes in. We sit on the mattress they actually use. We ask whether they can name the latch without sitting in its swing. Then we ask whether a chart already exists. If the latch fails, the number waits. This page is that test for a home renter or owner. The form school page is the shape of the seat: back, front, walk, door line. What is a personal kua number in Feng Shui?
Classroom name: Ming Gua (命卦). The homework set is Eight Mansions (八宅), a Compass-branch method. Wikipedia's feng shui page lists Eight Mansions with other compass techniques, next to Form. Form still goes first on this site.
The number is a 1-to-9 label some teachers assign from a birth year. East group and West group are classroom names for two short lists of headings. Your chart, if you have one, is one of those lists. Write the four sitting headings from the source you already used. Do not copy a second list from a second tab.
Sitting on this site matches the facing-versus-sitting page: the wall behind the chair back, or the wall behind the pillows. Eyes looking at the ceiling are not sitting talk. A sofa "facing the TV" is living-room language. Do not rename a conversation square as Ming Gua.
The five elements cycle is a different overlay. A kua label may pair with an element in some notes. That pairing does not paint the bedroom. It does not pick a career. Flying-star years are optional homework on the compass page. They are not this number.
Black Hat bagua does not use a personal kua list. It uses the door wall for a 3x3. If you are on a door-based map this week, you can skip Ming Gua until you switch schools. Mixing both in one evening is how a plant lands in a "wealth" cell while the chair hides the latch. Black Hat versus compass bagua is that map choice.
How we check a real room
We do not open a fresh calculator. We ask if a number already lives on a printout or a saved screenshot. We sit on the bed. We look for the latch the way the bed and door check already asks. We sit in the work chair and use the desk check. If either seat fails Form, we stop. If Form passes and a chart exists, we name the wall behind the head or the back, then we see whether that heading is on the list. We do not drag a heavy frame to chase a widget.
Hosts: shoot the guest bed the way a stay happens. A listing that hides the hall still fails command, whatever heading a guest's birth year might prefer.
How do you check a kua chart against the door?
Finish Form first. Name the latch from the pillow or the chair. Then write the sitting heading: the wall behind the head or the back. If that heading is on the list you already have, and the latch stays in a glance, leave the furniture. If rotating to the list hides the latch, do not rotate.
People talk themselves into a worse bed after that. Do the latch test in the hour you sleep or work. Night for the bed. The hour you sit for the desk. A morning photo with the door closed is a different room.

Keep one school on the sticky note. A "lucky" sit on a sofa that cannot see the door is an unfinished job.
That view is the test. You can skip the compass. You cannot skip the latch. If you cannot see the opening from the pillow, the heading on the duvet does not matter yet.
Example A: the chart you already have includes east sitting. The bedroom door is on the east wall. Putting the headboard on that wall puts your back to the latch. Fail. Keep a wall behind the pillows that still lets you name the door. The bed facing door page is coffin line versus command. A kua list does not override that geometry.
Example B: the door is south. The head is on the west wall. West is on the list you already wrote. You can still glance at the latch. Optional match. Leave the frame. Do not buy a new bed because a blog said "activate" the heading.
A window behind the pillows is still a window. Form wanted a board you can sit into. A kua heading that forces the head onto glass is a miss you can refuse. Slide toward plaster if the room allows it. Keep a walk.
A desk that "sits" a heading by staring at a closet, back to the office door, is the same fail in a chair. Desk position is command: wall at your back, latch in a glance. Compass sitting for a desk is a later row. Do not steal it. Tonight, if the kua list wants a rotate that hides the office leaf, keep the leaf.
That chair can see the opening. If your version faces a blank wall because a chart said "sit north," turn back until the latch is in view. Recheck with the desk tool.
What if two calculators give two numbers?
Stop. Do not average them. Do not rotate the bed to please both.
Sites disagree in public. A kua number calculator that prints its rules is useful as a warning, not as a priest. Century arithmetic changes. A raw 5 is reassigned in many notes. Birthdays in January or the first days of February can flip a year because some methods cut the year near early February, not on January 1. Lunar-new-year talk and solar-year talk are not the same cut. If two widgets disagree, you do not have a heading. You have a homework fight.
This page will not pick a winner. It will not reprint step-by-step arithmetic. If you still want a number later, use one teacher or one tool, write the source on the sketch, and keep that list for a month. Switching widgets every Sunday is how a mattress walks around the room.
A phone compass that jumps next to a steel jamb is a different lie. Take three readings off the frame, the way the compass guide already asks. If the needle hunts, you cannot name a sitting heading tonight. Form still works without a degree.
Do not download a third app because the first two fought. The latch did not change.
Should two people follow two kua lists in one bed?
No as a furniture split. One bed is one sleep seat. Two birth years can print two lists. The duvet is still one rectangle.
Score Form on that rectangle: wall behind both pillows if you share a headboard, latch in a glance, walk to the door. If the lists disagree, keep the seat that passes the door. You can each use a kua heading at a desk or a reading chair you already own. You cannot saw the mattress.
Split king beds is two mattresses and a gap. That is a different object. It is not a destiny workaround. Do not buy a second frame tonight to honor two widgets.
A guest on an air mattress is a fold-away seat. Put it away in the morning. Do not assign the guest a kua wall in a room they do not rent.
If only one person cares about the overlay, that person can take the optional heading on a chair they sit in alone. Sleep still shares the door test.
Renter steps you can reverse tonight
- Sit or lie in the seat you mean (sleep or work). Write which. Close extra calculator tabs.
- Name the latch from that seat. Use the bed and door or desk tool if you want the same questions on paper.
- If you cannot see the opening, shift the piece until you can, or until the lease says you have to stop. Keep a walk. Do not block a fire exit.
- If Form still fails, stop. Leave the chart closed.
- If Form passes and you already have one kua number, copy the four sitting headings from that one source. Write the source on the sketch.
- Name the wall behind the head or the back. If that heading is on the list and the latch is still in a glance, you may leave the furniture.
- If a rotate to the list would hide the latch, skip the rotate. Command stays.
- Photograph from the seat toward the door. Two people: one bed, one photo, one latch test.
A felt pad and a chair you can spin are reversible. A hole in landlord plaster is not. You do not owe the lease a kua-shaped floor plan.

Lie down where you sleep. Turn your head. Name the latch. If you cannot, move the bed (or the cheapest door mirror) before you open a calculator.
If you already see the door and you already have one written list, check whether the wall behind the pillows is on it. Leave a match. Refuse a rotate that hides the opening.
Then photograph that view. The first problem is still a blocked door. Labeling a Ming Gua list is the kua job. It starts after the latch has a name.
