Renters: the overlay is paper and tape. It is not a plaque you screw into the jamb. A landlord does not owe you a wealth corner remodel.
How do you apply compass bagua without lying to yourself?
You need a heading you can repeat. Stand a half step inside the door, look out, and read facing if you are labeling the house. For the floor overlay, you need true north on the plan, not the street name.
Hold the phone or a real compass level, off the steel slab. Take three looks. If they disagree, step onto wood or tile until the needle calms. A rental only needs north-ish. You are placing a lamp, not filing a survey.
Once north is marked, the southeast third of that same floor is wealth talk on this school. That cell might be a bathroom, a stove, or a sofa. Label it. If wealth talk lands on the toilet, close the lid. Do not move plumbing. If it lands on the range, cook with a clear board.
That needle is the compass school. Black Hat does not use it. If you put the compass on the table and still line the grid to the door, you are back on Black Hat. Pick.

Can you mix Black Hat and compass bagua?
No. Mixing them is the usual mess we photograph. Far-left-of-the-door and southeast are different walls in most flats. People then own two "money" plants and a blocked latch.
If you already mixed them, keep the map that matches how you found the first object. If the first plant was far left of the door, you were on Black Hat. Retire the southeast duplicate, or move it to a side table that is not a second shrine. If the first object was southeast, stay on compass and stop using the door-based far-left rule.
A month on one school is enough to see whether the room works. The test is still: does the door open, can you walk, can the bed or desk see who enters. The map is optional overlay after that.
Annual flying-star charts are a different homework set. They do not belong on this comparison. Do not rotate your building because a year number changed.
Where do the labels land when the schools disagree?
Take a typical rectangle with the front door on the short wall.
