Compass school names walls by direction. Form School names the door and the bed. A phone compass lies near steel. Facing does not pick a career. Flying stars are optional homework we will not run as a yearly spell.
When we photograph "compass homes," two apps disagree by 40 degrees at the fridge. People overlay both BTB and north-as-career. The landing is still blocked. This page is one reading, then one map.
Door grid: bagua. Cycle: five elements. Order of work: introduction. Job gua if you already picked north: career.
Luo Pan vs the phone
A Luo Pan is a compass with rings: trigrams, 24 mountains, sometimes stars. A master uses it on site. You do not need 40 rings to hang a plant.
A phone is enough to say "this door faces roughly south." Calibrate (the figure-eight). Step off the steel jamb. Recheck outside.
Magnetic north is not grid north on a site plan. For a rental blog overlay, "south-ish" is enough. Do not pretend you ran a survey.
Facing and sitting
Facing. The way you look when you step out the door you use.
Sitting. The opposite wall, the "back" of the house in classroom talk.
Some schools use the facade that faces the street even if you enter on the side. If those disagree, name which door is daily. A patio you never open is not facing.
Take three readings. If they jump, you are next to metal. Move.
A boundary between two 45-degree slices: pick the repeat. Do not activate both "wealth" stories.
Eight directions, as labels only
These pairings match popular compass bagua. They are not outcomes.
- North. Water, career talk. Water.
- Northeast. Earth, study talk. Earth.
- East. Wood, family talk. Wood.
- Southeast. Wood, wealth talk. Wealth corner.
- South. Fire, fame talk. Fire.
- Southwest. Earth, pair talk.
- West. Metal, children talk. Metal.
- Northwest. Metal, helpful-people talk.
Degree bands (337.5 to 22.5, and so on) are classroom slices. Your phone will not be that clean indoors.
Compass bagua vs BTB
Compass puts career on magnetic north no matter where the door is. BTB puts career on the door wall. They conflict. Pick one for a month. Bagua.
Form School still goes first: swing, bed, path. A perfect facing number on a blocked landing is homework.
Annual flying stars (each year a new "affliction") are a different system. This site will not tell you to hang a metal six every February. If you study stars, use a source that names the year and the school. Recalculating "directions" every year is star work, not a new facing. The building did not rotate.
How to take a reading
- Use the door you exit most days.
- Stand just inside or just outside, facing out.
- Level the compass. Off the frame.
- Write facing and sitting.
- Overlay one grid on a sketch. One object, if any.
Renters: a sticky note on a printed plan. No holes. Renters.
A steel building or a phone case with a magnet: read outside, walk the number back in.
A new lease: take facing on move-in day before the sofa lands in the door line. The number will not change when the truck leaves. New home. A studio with one window wall: facing is still the door you exit, not the glass you like.
What to skip
Do not promise a life path from 15 degrees. Do not paste an App Store URL in the body. Do not mix BTB and compass in one weekend. Do not buy a Luo Pan to fix a pile.
If the needle will not settle, skip the overlay. Do the door.
How to judge a change
You can say facing in one word and which school you used. The door still opens. You did not add a second wealth object for the other school.
Scan from that door in FengShui Hero. The app is a photo. This page is the needle.
Sources and limits
Facing/sitting and eight-sector labels follow popular compass-school classroom notes. Luo Pan rings vary by lineage. Empirical research on Feng Shui as a whole is limited and mixed.
